Parent Terms & Conditions
Last updated: [date]
1.1 Who we are
SisuBloom ("we", "us", "our") is operated by SisuBloom Organisation LTD, company number 16972385, registered at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NE. You can contact us at info@sisubloom.org.
1.2 The agreement
These terms form the contract between us and you, the parent or legal guardian ("you") enrolling a child in a SisuBloom programme. All contracts are with the parent or guardian, who must be aged 18 or over. Children cannot enrol themselves.
By completing enrolment and paying the fee (or deposit), you accept these terms.
1.3 The programmes
- SisuBloom Adventure — the full programme, including six curated physical books delivered to you, daily reading sessions, SisuSparks, weekly writing challenges, weekly live discussions, and Sunday feedback.
- SisuReads — includes the curated book list only. Books are not included; you may buy, borrow, or use copies you already own.
Places are limited to 45 per age group, organised in cohorts of 15. When a cohort is full, enrolments join a waitlist.
1.4 Fees and payment
- Adventure: £750, payable in full, in two payments of £375, or in three payments of £250.
- SisuReads: £250.
- A place may be reserved with a 10% deposit (£75 for Adventure), refundable up to 7 days before the programme start date (and always subject to your statutory cancellation rights in clause 1.6).
- A sibling reduction and a small bursary fund are available — contact us for details.
- If you choose an instalment plan, you remain liable for the full programme fee unless you cancel in accordance with these terms. Missed instalments may result in suspension of access until payment is brought up to date.
1.5 What we expect from you
- Provide accurate information at enrolment, including any needs we should know about to support your child.
- Ensure your child has a suitable, supervised environment and working device/internet connection for live sessions.
- Behave respectfully towards our staff and other families. We may withdraw a place (with a pro-rata refund of unused fees) for serious or repeated misconduct.
1.6 Your statutory right to cancel (cooling-off period)
Because you enrol online, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving a reason, for a full refund.
If you ask us to begin the programme within the 14-day period and then cancel, we may deduct an amount proportionate to the services already provided. To cancel, email info@sisubloom.org with a clear statement that you wish to cancel; you may use the model cancellation form we provide at enrolment.
1.7 Cancellation outside the cooling-off period
Our Refunds Policy (see the Refunds page) applies to cancellations after the 14-day period. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to services performed with reasonable care and skill.
1.8 Changes and cancellation by us
If we must cancel a cohort (for example, insufficient enrolment), we will offer you a transfer to another cohort or a full refund. If we cancel part-way through, we will refund the unused portion. We may make minor changes to schedules, session leaders, or content that do not materially reduce what you have paid for.
1.9 Intellectual property
All programme materials (book lists, SisuSparks, writing challenges, session recordings, and resources) are our intellectual property or used under licence. They are for your child's personal use only and may not be shared, copied, or resold.
1.10 Online sessions and recordings
Live sessions take place online. Our Safeguarding Policy applies to all sessions. We will tell you in advance if any session is recorded and why; recordings are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
1.11 Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid for the programme, and we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was made.
1.12 General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction (if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings there). If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: [date]
SisuBloom respects your family's privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Because our service involves children, we also follow the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (the "Children's Code").
2.1 Who is the data controller?
SisuBloom Organisation LTD, 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NE, is the data controller. Contact: info@sisubloom.org. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
2.2 What we collect
About you (the parent/guardian): name, email address, phone number, billing details, correspondence with us. About your child: first name and age/age group, reading progress, submitted work (SisuSparks, writing challenges, mini-projects), feedback records, and — only where you choose to tell us — information needed to support their participation (for example, additional needs). Automatically: limited technical data via our website (see our Cookie Policy).
We collect only what we need, and we never ask children for more information than is necessary to take part — a principle of the Children's Code.
2.3 Why we use it (lawful bases)
- To deliver the programme (contract): managing enrolment, running sessions, providing feedback, delivering books.
- To take payment and keep records (legal obligation): accounting and tax records.
- To keep children safe (legitimate interests / legal obligation): safeguarding records, session conduct.
- To send you updates about SisuBloom (consent): only if you opt in, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use children's data for marketing or profiling.
2.4 Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers who help us run SisuBloom — for example, our payment processor, video platform, and email provider — under contracts that protect your data. If any provider processes data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses) are in place. We may disclose information where the law requires it, including to safeguarding authorities where there is a concern about a child's welfare.
2.5 How long we keep it
- Enrolment and programme records: for the programme plus [X years] afterwards.
- Financial records: 6 years, as required by law.
- Safeguarding records: in line with statutory guidance, which may require longer retention.
- Marketing preferences: until you withdraw consent.
2.6 Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your data, to object to processing, and to data portability. You may exercise these rights for your child. To do so, contact info@sisubloom.org. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 — though we would welcome the chance to resolve any concern with you first.
2.7 Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and secure storage. Session recordings, where made, are stored securely and access is restricted.
Safeguarding Policy (Summary for Parents)
Last updated: [date]
The safety and welfare of every child at SisuBloom is our first priority. This summary explains how we keep children safe; our full safeguarding policy is available on request.
4.1 Our commitments
- We follow the principles of Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education, adapted for an online programme.
- Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Kamsikwa Ezeanyika, contactable at safeguarding@sisubloom.org. All concerns are directed to the DSL.
- All staff and session leaders who work with children hold a current enhanced DBS check (with children's barred list check where applicable) and receive safeguarding training before they begin.
4.2 Safe online sessions
- Live sessions are held on [platform] with waiting rooms enabled and access limited to enrolled children.
- Sessions are led by at least one vetted adult; children are never in unsupervised one-to-one video contact with a staff member — [if 1:1 feedback calls occur: they take place with a parent present or with recording on, by prior arrangement].
- Staff communicate with families only through official SisuBloom channels — never through personal accounts, social media, or private messaging with children.
- We will tell you in advance if a session is to be recorded and why. Recordings are stored securely, access-restricted, and deleted in line with our retention schedule.
- We ask that children join sessions from a shared or open family space where possible, with a parent or carer contactable in the home.
4.3 If we are concerned about a child
If we become concerned about a child's safety or welfare, we will follow our safeguarding procedures, which may include contacting parents and, where necessary, referring the concern to the local authority children's services or the police. We do not need parental consent to make a referral where a child may be at risk of significant harm.
4.4 Raising a concern with us
If you have any concern about your child's safety, another child, or the conduct of anyone connected with SisuBloom, contact the DSL at safeguarding@sisubloom.org. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.
Refunds Policy
Last updated: [date]
We want every family to join SisuBloom with confidence. This policy sits alongside — and never reduces — your statutory rights.
5.1 Your 14-day cooling-off right
When you enrol online, you may cancel within 14 days of enrolment for a full refund, no reason needed (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If you asked us to start the programme within those 14 days, we may deduct a fair amount for services already provided. Where physical books have been dispatched (Adventure), we may ask for their return in unused condition, or deduct their cost.
5.2 Deposits
A place reserved with a 10% deposit (£75 for Adventure) is refundable up to 7 days before the programme start date. Within 7 days of the start, the deposit is non-refundable unless clause 5.1 applies or we cancel the cohort.
5.3 After the cooling-off period
- Before the programme starts: cancellations more than 7 days before the start date receive a full refund of fees paid. Within 7 days of the start, we refund fees paid less the deposit amount.
- After the programme starts: fees are non-refundable, except that if you cancel for a serious reason (for example, illness), we will consider a pro-rata refund or a transfer to a later cohort at our discretion — please contact us.
- Instalment plans: cancelling does not create a refund of instalments covering weeks already delivered; future instalments are cancelled from the effective cancellation date in line with the rules above.
5.4 If we cancel or fail to deliver
If we cancel a cohort, you receive a transfer or a full refund — your choice. If we materially fail to deliver the programme as described, you are entitled to remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including repeat performance or a price reduction.
5.5 How refunds are paid
Refunds are made to the original payment method within 14 days of the cancellation being confirmed (or, for cooling-off cancellations involving books, within 14 days of receiving the books back or proof of postage).
To request a refund, email info@sisubloom.org with your child's name and cohort.
Complaints Policy
Last updated: [date]
We take every concern seriously and see complaints as a chance to improve.
6.1 How to complain
Email info@sisubloom.org with "Complaint" in the subject line, or write to [postal address]. Please include your name, your child's name and cohort, what happened, and what outcome you are seeking.
6.2 What happens next
- Acknowledgement: within 3 working days.
- Investigation and response: a full written response within 14 working days. If we need longer, we will tell you why and give a revised date.
- Escalation: if you are not satisfied, you may ask for the complaint to be reviewed by [founder/director name], who will respond within a further 14 working days.
6.3 If you remain unsatisfied
You may seek independent advice from Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk, 0800 144 8848). Complaints about how we handle personal data may be raised with the ICO (ico.org.uk). Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights or your right to bring a claim.
Safeguarding concerns are handled under our Safeguarding Policy, not this complaints process — see that page for urgent contacts.
